Contains portraits and snapshots of Sheaff, his wife Ellen "Nellie" Ginsell and their family, including 3 tintype family portraits
in cases and frames, as well as 2 empty photograph cases. Also includes group portraits of U.S. Navy crews -- including Sheaff
-- of the U.S.S. Olympia (commandeered by George Dewey during the Spanish American War) and and unidentified ship; and two
photographs of U.S.S. Boston, one of which includes detail of damage received in the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898. Also includes
an heirloom thimble and calling card case, a Spanish American War cuff link, a Kern County High School pin, and a San Jose
City Lines fare token

Charles Raymond Sheaff (October 9, 1867-May 22, 1942) was born in Holcomb, Illinois. In 1892, he enlisted in the National
Guard of California and served in the U.S. Navy until March 1900. In 1903, he married Ellen Grinsell in Bakersfield, California.
